Dear Folks:

Please join me and a select group of others in a 1-hour orientation to Web Collaboration - a web-based environment (powered by WebIQ) that leverages the Internet to provide real collaboration between people located in different places:

  • Around the office
  • Around the corner
  • Around the world.

What will I learn?
You will then experience something different as you take a "test drive" of this environment. You will see how a truly collaborative web environment can really help a group tap into and capture the wisdom of multiple points of view.

You will engage participants in a virtual meeting room where a distributed group will work collaboratively on the web in ways that come very close to face-to-face settings.

You will experience how this environment can eliminate non-value-added costs and activities from the success of collaborative work processes.

  • ELIMINATING DISTANCE AS A CONSTRAINT:
    • WebIQ puts people located in different places into many-to-many collaborative mode where they can propose, react, respond, assess, categorize and document their ideas and thoughts in real time

  • ELIMINATING TIME AS A CONSTRAINT:
    • WebIQ puts people spread across time zones or work shifts into many-to-many collaborative mode where they can propose, react, respond, assess, categorize and document their ideas and thoughts in real time or at more convenient times.

  • ELIMINATING BUDGET AS A CONSTRAINT:
    • WebIQ gives groups the ability to work collaboratively at any time and from any place while minimizing the disruption of members' schedules, reducing the need for travel and the ensuing direct and indirect travel costs.

How can I play
When you are ready to participate, the good news is that you won't have to travel any farther than your office! All you'll need is a PC connected to the internet and a phone for a teleconference.

You can link to the on-line Public Orientation Schedule at: http://www.jordan-webb.net/webiq/schedule.html

Or, you can call us at (773)-463-2288.

Once you have responded with a date, you will receive reminder emails from the system, giving you instructions for both the web conference and the teleconference.

Private and/or Custom Orientations
We will schedule a private orientation exclusively for participants from your organization. Additionally, we will design a customized WebIQ orientation session that may better represent specific problems/issues in your organization or market sector.

Why Distributed Meetings?
A multitude of forces has challenged all types of organizations to revamp the way that they conduct business with their constituents: employees, contractors, clients, vendors, shareholders, etc. The notion of centralizing activities in a single office location has evolved as more companies allow (or require) employees to work from home or satellite offices. "Traditional" companies such as IBM and Xerox have been moving in this direction for nearly ten years. This trend parallels the evolution of many organizations from structured, top-down hierarchies to flatter networked structures. At the same time, other entities are merging to form new enterprises or emerging from reorganizations. In short, many organizations are struggling with change.

Prior to 9/11, reducing decision cycle time and controlling decision costs were not the highest priorities. Today, travel is drastically cut, expenses are tightly controlled and organizations are fighting for survival with limited resources as they delay decisions, cancel programs & projects, etc. Many organizations now are looking for ways to remove non-value-added costs and activities from meetings. The advent of web-based conferencing applications has prompted many organizations to use the internet as a channel for conducting business meetings. Before 9/11, many organizations viewed such platforms as "nice to have" and an article published just after 9/11 even predicted the death of "on-line" meetings. Today, contrary to predictions, on-line meetings are a growth market and applications that support such meetings are maturing. These applications can indeed help organizations and people communicate and collaborate at any time and place.

Thank you for your inteterest.

Sincerely,
Paul Collins
